We hope to:
- Continue to increase the visibility of the Divinity Women’s Center within the Divinity School as well as in the Duke and Durham communities
- Provide sacred space where students, staff, faculty, and alumni may gather for discussion debate, support, study, and planning
- Engage many students in programming
- Provide opportunities to increase understanding among diverse voices related to issues of Gender and Christianity
- Develop a forum and resources to assist students pursuing the Certificate Program in Gender, Theology, and Ministry.Contact us if you would like to discuss the Certificate, to learn of specific projects and coursework, or to be put in touch with other helpful persons within the Divinity School and beyond.
- Be a supportive presence for those who experience struggles in their lives and/or ministries.
- Act as a clearinghouse and referral agency for issues relating to gender and sexuality
- Provide opportunities for women and others to become acquainted with one another and to join together in fellowship, learning, healing, networking, and affect student body attitudes towards the Divinity Women’s Center, women in ministry, and Feminist/Womanist/Mujerista theologies.
- Coordinate with other Divinity School groups such as Black Seminarians Union and Sacred Worth
